Supply Watch
2 to 7 days of advance warning when LPG, onion, paneer, oil, or chicken supply breaks — pulled from Agmarknet + news.
What it does
Supply Watch in plain English
Supply Watch combines daily Agmarknet mandi prices with NewsAPI headlines to detect impending shortages or price spikes before they hit your kitchen. The system maps a news headline like 'Iran sanctions LPG' to your kitchen's actual usage (3 cylinders/week) and writes an action card: 'Stock 5-day buffer before next week. Estimated impact ₹6,400.'
Examples
What you actually see
'LPG supply tightening in Karnataka — stock 5-day buffer before Friday.'
'Onion mandi median up 18% over 4 weeks. Pune APMC ₹38/kg vs ₹26/kg LWA. Lock supplier price for next 2 weeks.'
'Cooking oil import news flagged — 5-day inventory buffer recommended for restaurants in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik.'
Inputs
What powers it
- Agmarknet daily mandi prices for 8 tracked commodities
- NewsAPI headlines (refreshed every 6h)
- Your kitchen's recipe-implied weekly commodity usage
FAQ
Supply Watch FAQ
How is this different from looking at Agmarknet myself?
Two ways. (1) Most owners don't check Agmarknet daily — Forkcast does, and only writes you when something has moved. (2) We map the price move to your kitchen — 'this commodity is 14% of your food cost', so you see rupees, not percentages.
Will it alert about LPG supply?
Yes. LPG is one of our 8 tracked commodities. We pull from news and from Indian Oil / Bharat Petroleum supply advisories where available.
